Itinerary description
The Tindastóll mountain range is a kinda iconic summit (alt. 990m) extending for 18km along the coast on the western side of the Skagafjordur Bay. Located in the North of the town Sauðárkrókur, its climbing is rather easy (though there is no real marked trail) and it offers stunning panoramic view all over the fjord, islands and mountains. Moreover, according to local legends, the mountain and its caves are believed to be inhabited by an array of sea monsters, trolls and giants. Beware of it ;)
We suggest to start the ascent at the Tindastóll Ski Area (alt. 400m), which significantly reduces the way to the top if you begin from road 744.
No signposted trail here but the way is... up.
Easy parking at the ski base, just in front of the start.
