Itinerary description
Sattu Bangla is an ancient forest guest house built by the British more than 100 years ago in 1902 AD. It's located between the Abbottabad and Mansehra mountain ranges, offering a fascinating mix of history and nature.
Your hike begins at the starting point of the Mera Rehmat trek. After just 200 meters, you'll get a beautiful view of Thandiani and Mera Rehmat Village. About 1 kilometer in, you'll come to a fork in the path. Take a sharp right to continue your journey. The trail can get muddy, so it's a good idea to wear gaiters to keep your pants clean.
After about 2 kilometers, watch out for a side path that goes downhill. Many people miss this turn. If you keep going straight, you'll run into a section of the trail that's closed off by locals to keep their animals inside. From here, the path starts to go downhill until you reach a ridge.
Word of caution: Be careful because the trail becomes a bit tricky with false steps and slippery slopes. Wear sturdy shoes for a good grip and take your steps slowly and carefully. I would also suggest you have walking poles with you. They come in handy in balancing your weight. Due to the reasons mentioned, I am rating this trek as difficult.
Keep walking straight for approximately 7 kilometers, and you'll be close to the last part of the hike, which is only about 300 meters long. This last stretch has a steep uphill climb. You might get tired here because of traveling and trekking. Don't give up, and keep going, you don't want to miss the Banlga!
The Sattu Bangla guest house is a real treat to visit. It's like stepping back in time to the history of the subcontinent. Some people even camp here, adding to the adventure. I'll be camping here soon, so stay tuned for more updates.
In simple terms, this hike takes you to an old British guest house in a beautiful mountain area. It's a bit tough in places, so wear good shoes, and don't miss the turn. When you reach the guest house, you'll be amazed by its history.
