Itinerary description
The trail to the summit of mount Lunxhëri from Saraqinisht village.
The trail is not marked, but is very good and very easy to follow. it’s not easy, because the mountain is very steep and you will gain nearly 1200 m altitude from the starting point.
There is a small spring at around 1400 m for water.
With a 4WD you can park the car exactly at the site of starting point, with a small car you have to start hiking at least 1.5 km lower at around 700 m altitude, because the gravel road is in bad conditions.
To go there you have to take the road from Gjirokaster to Antigone and just before arriving in Saraqinisht take the first gravel road left.
Around 1600 m altitude there are several shepherd and it can be risky with the dogs , so it would be preferable to hike it before July and be careful if traveling alone.
You can also see the Ionian Sea and Corfu from the summit on a clear day if you look south.
Ps: The GPS wasn’t working perfectly, but the trail is hard to lose once you walk in it.
