Itinerary description
This is a surprisingly beautiful walk through the majestic setting of the forest of Saou, where you are surrounded by many mountain tops and ridges, amongst which Les Trois Becs, Roche Rousse, Grand Pomerolle, and Roche Colombe to name a few.
The first part of the walk is along the river Vebre to the Pont of Béton, a very nice track through the wood and from there to the Auberge of Dauphins which at the moment is under construction to be a major cultural establishment. In the course of the coming year it will open its doors for visitors to learn and discover about the history and the secrets of the Foret de Saou.
There is a huge picknick area adjacent to the Auberge Dauphins.
From the signpost Chemin de la Grande Combe a very beautiful track winds itself from 500 to 650 metres, where you arrive at the Chemin de Muletiers.
From this point the track becomes broad giving you many stunning views of the ridges and the mountaintops of the Foret de Saou for the next 2,7 kilometres.
Arriving at the signpost Les Chenes at 500m. the track descends gradually to the parking Les Sables Blanc.
