Itinerary description
When we hiked this trail in mid-March (2019), it was hot and the trail was very dusty. Parts are also very steep, and on them it is difficult to maintain a good footing, especially on the way down. At the end (Alto el Naranjo) there is a good (if somewhat hazy when we were there) view of snow-capped mountains and a huge tree giving good shade.
The starting point I have indicated is the point at which the driver of the C02 bus (from the end of the L1 subway line) let us off (I'm not sure it's an official stop). You can start hiking only up to 1pm. The person at the entrance told us it is a 4.5 hour (roundtrip) hike, but it took us about 7 hours. (We are slow, but not incredibly slow; I think you'd have to hike at a fair clip to make it in 4.5 hours.)
