Itinerary description

Very nice loop starting near an abandoned army post where you can park. Leave soon the trail and walk on the ridge where you will have magnificent views of Metn area and lebanese coastline. Before the final ascent to the Cross, you will join the Berland route. Sannine Cross (2536 m) is not the highest point of Sannine massif. The true summit (2628 m) is more to the East. You can take the trail to get close to the summit but to reach it you have to go off-trail. BE CAREFUL! THERE ARE MINES IN THE AREA FROM THE CROSS TO MZAAR SUMMIT (not on the actual trail). For Sannine summits ridge traverse (check my other trails, I personally did it off-trail many times in winter and summer without any problem but i cannot confirm that this area is free of mines. The way back offers beautiful views of Bekaa valley.

Excellente boucle! Merci Rami! Enjoy!

Hey Rami! Thanks for this really helpful summary - am hoping to do this trail on Wednesday. I didn’t totally understand - is there a trail or an obvious path up to Sannine cross? And this is the safe area right? Or do you recommend one of your other routes that has some sort of trail? Thanks a lot.

Hello AnnaSophia! I don't recommend this trail to be done at this time of the year. The ridge ascent has no trail, and the snow will make things difficult and risky. If you want to reach Sannine Cross, i recommend that you take the dirt road (the right part of the loop). And you don't need to climb to the "true" summit. Continue your way on the 4x4 road to reach Sannine Cross and church. You can go back on the same route. Enjoy it and stay safe!
