Itinerary description

Leaving San Pietro di Cadore to explore in the snow the “Rifugio Forcella Zovo” following the road till Valle and then following the wood path which is used in summer by 4x4, tractors and other machinery. In the middle of the wood many trees were down due to a strong storm happened on the 8th of December, a kind of disaster unfortunately. We reached the Rifugio which was closed and almost covered by the snow but we could sit on a bench and on a ladder to have a nice lunch in the middle of the nature. After we kept going north-west on the path visible from the Rifugio, after 2 km we took the path going south, nobody was opening the path before so we were following the track on the GPS and sometimes the red and white marks on the trees (when visible, because even here many trees were falling on the groud after the heavy storm), reaching the first houses in Costalta, very characteristics with old drawings on the walls and tools used by the farmers probably in the previous century. All the rest was by normal roads till our starting point in San Pietro di Cadore. Nice trip, sunny day and A LOT of snow!!! 😉
