1
Walk up Westfield Avenue and bear right onto Westfield Avenue South, right along Hempstead Road and left into Coombe Rise. At the top of Coombe Rise go ahead on to the bridleway and follow up the hill, by this time you will begin to have good views on a clear day, rewarding your efforts! Just after the path bends round to the right, go straight ahead at the junction. On reaching a fence turn left with the fence on the right. There is a turreted house over to the right.
2
At the end of the fence follow the path to the right. Just before the cattle grid, take the path to the left, shortly there is a bridle gate. You will now be walking along Telscombe Tye . Follow the sometimes rutted track. Eventually, at a roofless barn, you will see a memorial to one John Harvey and will have been noticing the copper roof of Balsdean Pumping Station over to the left for some time. Just past the memorial take the path way marked to the left keeping the field boundary on the right . You will then come to a gate and a steep descent.
3
Bear left on reaching the track and then turn right up the tarmac road and follow up the hill above the farm buildings and the pumping station. In sight of the top, and with the reservoir banks visible over to the right go through a bridle gate in the left hand fence and follow the diagonal track to the field corner and go through the gate on the left. Turn left and keeping the fence to your left walk along the top of the valley below High Hill. At the end of the field carry on through scrub and follow the path down hill to Pickers Hill Farm. Keep to the left of the locked blue doors and then turn right onto the access road. Pass houses and Saltdean United FC to arrive back at the start.
