Itinerary description
I was totally blown-away by the huge scars left by the preliminary digging of the dam that was halted back in 1975. As you leave Olmstead Loop Trail and enter onto the Salt Creek Loop trail, you’ll notice you’re walking in a huge scraped-away swath of land which were gonna be the dam footings. Luckily, the earth has been healing itself and life is popping up amongst the humongous piles of boulders, rocks and denuded land.
