Itinerary description
In the heart of the Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Natural Park , the Salinas de Rio Maior are located about 3 kilometers from the city center and nestle in a valley at the foot of the Serra dos Candeeiros. They are the only inland salt pans in Portugal. What does that mean? Which are the only ones that are not close to the sea. And they are also the only ones that are fully operational throughout Europe.
