Depuis le village, le randonneur descend vers la Midouze au milieu d'un paysage de landes. Le tiers de cet itinéraire permet de découvrir l'ancien chemin de halage permettant de relier l'ancien port rivulaire de Mont de Marsan au port de Bayonne grâce aux gabarres. Cette activité a perduré du XIIème siècle jusqu'au début du XIXème et constituait un axe majeur du commerce des produits agricoles gascons.

Attention, le marquage de ce sentier a partiellement disparu. Un propriétaire terrien aigri mais influent ayant réussi à convaincre les autorités de priver les randonneurs saint martinois de leur PR. Pour contourner les molosses, il faudra donc remonter le talus en coupant à travers bois et coupe rase pour rejoindre le chemin sablonneux qui ramène vers le bourg.

From the village, hikers walk down to the Midouze in the middle of a moorland landscape. One third of this route is dedicated to discovering the old towpath that connected the ancient river port of Mont de Marsan to the port of Bayonne thanks to flat-bottomed boats named gabarres. This activity lasted from the 12th century until the early 19th century and was a major trade artery in agricultural products from Gasconny.

Be careful as the marking partially disappeared as an embittered, but influential, landowner managed to convince the authorities to deprive the local hikers of their trail. To work around the big dogs, you will therefore go up the slope by cutting through woods and clear-cutting to reach the sandy path back towards the village.
