Itinerary description
Totally stunning hike up Mount Sinai starting from the monetary at the bottom. It’s an easy path with the hardest part being the last 40 minutes up the steps. Views along the way are totally awesome.
This hike can only be done with a Bedouin guide. Our guide was Eid, a super friendly man who speaks perfect English and was patient and helpful.
As we were here in the middle of winter it was pretty cold with a strong super dry wind so make sure you wear enough clothes and protect your lips against the wind.
There also an option to go by camel which will take you to the bottom of the steps. Along the way there’s small huts selling hot chocolate and small snacks. Also on top there’s a small shop so if you happen to be low on water and snacks, don’t worry.

Can’t remember how much we paid but yes, you can’t go without a guide. Our guide was called Eid, great guy. I can leave his number here if you want.

I contacted guide Eid, unfortunately he was not available but he arranged another good guide for us.
My wife and I hiked with a guide on 2 days hike from St Catherine village to Mount Sinai via Wadi El Farah route, then descended to Wadi Arbayeen and rested for the night in one of the gardens.
Next day we hiked up to Mount Catherine summit and descended back to the village vis the Red valley known as Wadi Lahmer.
Both trails are recorded in my wikiloc profile.
Our trip cost us all inclusive mountain times for $200 total for 2 persons.
Now 1 Usd is 30 Egp.
