Itinerary description
Beautiful area! I especially liked the ravine trail at the end of the hike when returning uphill to the start. Dense riparian woods. Just the last 200-ish yards are a bit steep but nothing daunting at all.
The trails do have lots of river rock, therefore "ankle busters". I would suggest paying attention to good ankle support. I would also suggest trekking poles for a large portion of the time (my preference!)
The turtles at the pond were spectacular! I'd never seen such big pond turtles before. The east side of the pond has steep drop-offs and eroding thin trails ... only sure-footed confident hikers should tackle the east side.
