Itinerary description
Starting Point: Camping Turpi, Cerler
Route: Circular
Distance: 3 km
Elevation gain: 170m
Looking for a route suitable for all ages, including the youngest members of the family, set in a stunning mountain environment? Then the Las Gorgas de Alba route is perfect for you. This short circular trail, with minimal elevation change, is rich in plants, trees, birds, and waterfalls!
Information
Just past Hotel Turpi, you can park on the right. From here, start this lovely botanical route, which is mostly shaded. Walk through a wooden arch onto the S-1 path, just after crossing the bridge over the Ésera River. A few meters in, you'll climb slightly before arriving at a forest path filled with black pines, yews, and silver firs.
When you reach the turnoff for ‘Gorgas de Alba,’ we recommend continuing straight for a bit to explore the heart of the beech forest. Cross several streams via wooden footbridges and follow the path to the left (signs indicate ‘subida’ = uphill and ‘bajada’ = downhill). Once you reach the highest part of the beech forest, descend the loop to the right.
Back at the junction, take the path to Gorgas de Alba, which leads down to a viewpoint built on a footbridge. Enjoy the spectacular view of the waterfalls! From here, continue your descent to the starting point along the right bank of the river.
Tip: You can take a refreshing dip and relax at the river shore upon your return!
