Jetzt geht es ca. 20 - 30 Min. immer durch einen dichten, romantischen Wald, am Ende dieses Abschnittes geht der Wald allmählich zurück und man stößt fast rechtwinklig auf einen breiten Schotter- und Geröllweg, der links steil nach oben führt und rechts steil nach unten, direkt nach Sete Cidades.
Man geht natürlich links steil hinauf. Es folgt ein wirklich anstrengender Abschnitt und gutes Schuhwerk ist vonnöten. Oben angekommen hat man den Kraterrand erreicht und hält sich rechts.
Man folgt nun dem Kraterrand westwärts (ca. 1 h). Sie können nun eine herrliche Aussicht auf die Westküste Sâo Miguels und gleichzeitig auf den Lagoa Verde genießen. Der Weg endet schließlich an der geteerten Straße, die von Sete Cidades nach Várzea führt, hier rechts halten.
