Rund um Nittel - Kalkfelsen - Rehlingen - Nittel

DE: Start und Ziel: Nittel, Ortskern(Uferstraße 8, 54453 Nittel). Erreichbarkeit: Bahnverbindung zum Hbf. Trier oder mit dem Auto über die B419. Markierung: N3 (Felsenweg), Moselsteig, N1, unmarkiert (teilweise Via Caliga), ab Rehlingen wieder Moselsteig.

Im Bann der großen Felsen
Höhepunkt der Wanderung sind die Nittel überragenden Dolomit- und Kalkfelsen, denen man sich zunächst von unten und später von oben her nähert. Darüber hinaus erhalten Sie auf ausgewählten Kammwegen einen guten Überblick über das landwirtschaftlich geprägte Hinterland. Sehenswert sind auch die akkuraten Weinberge unserer luxemburgischen Freunde.

Die Tour startet am Bahnhof von Nittel, wo auch Parkmöglichkeiten vor-handen sind. Von dort aus folgt man der Weinstraße gut 150 m ortseinwärts, bis links die Straße "In der Gessel" abzweigt. Am Kirchweg hält man sich kurz rechts und strebt schließlich linker Hand "Im Kalköff" bergan. Die gute Beschilderung des Felsenweges (N3) leitet Sie über die Landstraße in die Weinberge. Von der Rastbank an der Steinskulptur bieten sich bereits sehr schöne Ausblicke zurück ins Moseltal und voraus auf die gewaltige Felsen-formation, der man sich mit N3 und den Moselsteigzeichen nähert. Die hohen Dolomit- und Kalkfelsen bilden das Naturschutzgebiet Nitteler Fels. Das milde Klima und die Wärmespeicherung bieten den Lebensraum für gefähr-dete Vogel-, Insekten-, Reptilien- und Fledermausarten. Auch das Vorkommen besonderer nicht alltäglicher Pflanzen wie Orchideen, Felsbirne, Pfaffenhütchen, Schneeball oder Buchsbaum bezeugen die klimatische Schutzlage. Einige seltene Orchideenarten blühen auf Trockenrasen oberhalb der Felsen. Entstanden sind die Felsen vor 210 Millionen Jahren, als die Wellen des Triasmeeres auf Land trafen.
Nachdem der Weg in gerader Linie links abwärts schwenkt, um auf Asphalt den letzten Anstieg am moseltalseitigen Ende der Felswand zu meistern, er wartet Sie oben eine weitere Steinskulptur, die eine riesige himmelwärts ausgestreckte Hand darstellt. Gigantisch ist zudem aber auch der Ausblick auf den deutsch-luxemburgischen Grenzfluss. Oberhalb der Felsen schlängelt sich der Pfad entlang der gesamten Länge der Landstufe, bevor sich der Moselsteig bei den schön gelegenen Rastbänken nach links wendet und die offene Felderlandschaft erreicht. Die Moselsteigzeichen bringen Sie bis zum Modellflugplatz. Hier folgen Sie N1 nach rechts und biegen mit derselben Markierung nach etwa 100 m links ab. In der Senke wird Ihnen N1 jedoch untreu, sodass Sie fortan ohne Markierung geradeaus dem Waldrand zustreben. Vor der Schutzhütte wenden Sie sich kurz nach rechts und folgen sogleich dem am Waldsaum entlang verlaufenden steinigen Feldweg. In herrlicher Aussichtslage bringt Sie der weiterhin unmarkierte Weg zur Landstraße. In gerader Linie setzt sich der Weg auf der anderen Seite fort, wo er nach 450 m in einem Wäldchen eine S-Kurve beschreibt. Etwa 100 m hinter der Hinweistafel, die über das Orchideenvorkommen in der Gegend informiert, steigen Sie mit dem rechtwinklig vom Weg abzweigenden grasigen Weg zwischen den Ackerflächen auf. Im Rückblick ist inmitten von Weinber-gen die weiß getünchte Wallfahrtskapelle St. Rochus zu erkennen. Eine Lücke in der Kammbewaldung bringt Sie zur Höcht, wo sich bei guter Sicht ein fantastischer Weitblick über die Höhen des Hunsrück einstellt. Folgen Sie nun dem Wirtschaftsweg nach rechts und biegen auf Höhe des Waldes nach links ab. Am Ende der Hecke wenden Sie sich bei den Überlandleitungen nach rechts. Dem weiterhin unmarkierten Asphaltweg folgen Sie nun immer geradeaus, um nach gut zwei Kilometern auf die Schützhütte im Bereich der Landgemarkung "In der Hölle" zu treffen. Trotz mangelnder Wegzeichen und Asphaltbelages, habe ich dieses Teilstück ausgewählt, weil das Hinterland an der Obermosel gewährt. An der Hütte folgt man dem Straßenverlauf mit zwei Kurven talwärts und hält sich am Querweg rechts. Bald schon trifft man auf die Wegzeichen der Via Caliga, eines regionalen Themenweges, der sich mit der lokalen römischen Vergangenheit beschäftigt. An der Einmündung verlassen Sie die Via Caliga und folgen der Beschilderung Richtung Rehlingen nach rechts. Im Winzerdorf Rehlingen kann man einkehren und sich für den steilen Anstieg zur Kapelle rüsten, von wo sich die Weinlagen von Luxemburg begutachten lassen. Mit den Wegzeichen des Moselsteigs nehmen Sie nun das letzte Wegstück in Angriff, welches Sie über die Kölliger Höhe und einen wuchtigen Felsen im Wald oberhalb der Weinberge zum alten Nitteler Kreuzweg führt. Längst ist dann auch wieder die gewaltige Felskulisse in den Vordergrund gerückt, die Ihnen anzeigt, dass Sie auf der richtigen Fährte zurück zu Ihrem Ausgangsort Nittel sind. Dort kreuzen Sie eine Wohnsiedlung, um auf die Weinstraße zu gelangen, die Sie wieder zum Bahnhof bringt. (text entnommen aus Wanderführer Mosel von Thorsten Lensing).

Under the spell of the big rocks
The highlight of the hike are the dolomite and limestone rocks towering over the Nittel, which you approach first from below and later from above. In addition, you will get a good overview of the agricultural hinterland on selected ridge paths. The accurate vineyards of our Luxembourg friends are also worth seeing.

The tour starts at Nittel train station, where parking is also available. From there, follow the Weinstraße for a good 150 m into town, until the "In der Gessel" street branches off to the left. At Kirchweg, keep to the right for a short while and then head uphill to "Im Kalköff" on the left. The good signposting of the Felsenweg (N3) leads you over the country road into the vineyards. From the rest bench at the stone sculpture there are already very nice views back into the Moselle valley and ahead of the mighty rock formation, which you can approach with the N3 and the Moselsteig sign. The high dolomite and limestone rocks form the Nitteler Fels nature reserve. The mild climate and heat storage provide a habitat for endangered species of birds, insects, reptiles and bats. The occurrence of special, unusual plants such as orchids, pear, euonymus, viburnum and boxwood testify to the climatic protection. Some rare species of orchids bloom on dry grass above the rocks. The rocks were formed 210 million years ago when the waves of the Triassic Sea hit land.
After the path swings down in a straight line to the left to master the last ascent on asphalt at the end of the rock face on the Moselle valley side, another stone sculpture awaits you at the top, which represents a huge hand stretched out towards the sky. The view of the German-Luxembourg border river is also gigantic. Above the rocks, the path meanders along the entire length of the escarpment before the Moselsteig trail turns left at the beautifully situated rest benches and reaches the open countryside. The Moselsteig sign will take you to the model airfield. Here follow N1 to the right and turn left with the same marking after about 100 m. In the depression, however, N1 becomes unfaithful to you, so that from now on you head straight for the edge of the forest without any markings. Before the refuge, turn right and immediately follow the rocky field path that runs along the edge of the forest. The path, which is still unmarked, takes you to the country road in a wonderful panoramic position. The path continues in a straight line on the other side, where after 450 m it describes an S-curve in a grove. About 100 m after the sign informing about the presence of orchids in the area, climb the grassy path that branches off at right angles to the path between the fields. Looking back, the whitewashed pilgrimage chapel of St. Rochus can be seen surrounded by vineyards. A gap in the ridge forest takes you to the Höcht, where you can enjoy a fantastic view over the heights of the Hunsrück on a clear day. Now follow the service road to the right and turn left at the height of the forest. At the end of the hedge, turn right at the overhead power lines. Follow the still unmarked asphalt road straight on to reach the refuge hut in the "In der Hölle" district after a good two kilometers. Despite the lack of signposts and asphalt, I chose this section because the hinterland on the Upper Moselle allowed it. At the hut, follow the road downhill with two bends and keep right at the crossroads. Soon you will come across the waymarks of the Via Caliga, a regional themed path dealing with the local Roman past. At the junction, leave Via Caliga and follow the signs to Rehlingen to the right. You can stop off in the wine village of Rehlingen and prepare yourself for the steep ascent to the chapel, from where you can examine the vineyards of Luxembourg. With the signposts of the Moselsteig you now tackle the last part of the way, which takes you over the Kölliger heights and a massive rock in the forest above the vineyards to the old Nitteler Kreuzweg. The mighty rocky backdrop has long since moved into the foreground, which shows you that you are on the right track back to your starting point Nittel. Sous le charme des gros rochers
Le point culminant de la randonnée sont les roches dolomitiques et calcaires qui dominent le Nittel, que vous approchez d'abord par le bas, puis par le haut. De plus, vous aurez un bon aperçu de l'arrière-pays agricole sur des chemins de crête sélectionnés. Les vignobles précis de nos amis luxembourgeois valent également le détour.

La visite commence à la gare de Nittel, où un parking est également disponible. De là, suivez la Weinstraße sur 150 m dans la ville, jusqu'à ce que la rue "In der Gessel" bifurque à gauche. A Kirchweg, restez un court moment sur la droite puis montez vers "Im Kalköff" sur la gauche. La bonne signalisation du Felsenweg (N3) vous mène sur la route de campagne dans les vignobles. Depuis le banc de repos de la sculpture en pierre, il y a déjà de très belles vues sur la vallée de la Moselle et devant la puissante formation rocheuse, que vous pouvez approcher avec la N3 et le panneau Moselsteig. Les hautes roches dolomitiques et calcaires forment la réserve naturelle de Nitteler Fels. Le climat doux et le stockage de la chaleur offrent un habitat aux espèces menacées d'oiseaux, d'insectes, de reptiles et de chauves-souris. La présence de plantes spéciales et inhabituelles telles que les orchidées, les poiriers, les euonymus, les viornes et les buis témoigne de la protection climatique. Certaines espèces rares d'orchidées fleurissent sur l'herbe sèche au-dessus des rochers. Les roches se sont formées il y a 210 millions d'années lorsque les vagues de la mer du Trias ont touché terre. Après que le sentier descende en ligne droite vers la gauche pour maîtriser la dernière ascension sur asphalte au bout de la paroi rocheuse côté vallée de la Moselle, une autre sculpture de pierre vous attend au sommet, qui représente une énorme main tendue vers le ciel. La vue sur le fleuve frontalier germano-luxembourgeois est également gigantesque. Au-dessus des rochers, le chemin serpente sur toute la longueur de l'escarpement avant que le sentier Moselsteig tourne à gauche aux bancs de repos magnifiquement situés et atteigne la campagne ouverte. Le panneau Moselsteig vous conduira à l'aérodrome modèle. Ici suivre N1 à droite et tourner à gauche avec le même balisage après environ 100 m. Dans la dépression, cependant, la N1 vous devient infidèle, si bien que désormais vous vous dirigez droit vers la lisière de la forêt sans aucun balisage. Avant le refuge, tournez à droite et suivez immédiatement le chemin rocheux qui longe la lisière de la forêt. Le chemin, qui n'est pas encore balisé, mène à la route de campagne dans une position panoramique magnifique. Le chemin continue en ligne droite de l'autre côté, où après 450 m il décrit une courbe en S dans un bosquet. Environ 100 m après le panneau informant de la présence d'orchidées dans les environs, monter le chemin herbeux qui bifurque perpendiculairement au chemin entre les champs. En regardant en arrière, la chapelle de pèlerinage blanchie à la chaux de Saint-Rochus peut être vue entourée de vignes. Une brèche dans la forêt de crête vous emmène au Höcht, où vous pourrez profiter d'une vue fantastique sur les hauteurs du Hunsrück par temps clair. Suivez maintenant la voie de service à droite et tournez à gauche à la hauteur de la forêt. Au bout de la haie, tournez à droite au niveau des lignes électriques aériennes. Suivez la route goudronnée encore non balisée tout droit pour atteindre la cabane refuge dans le quartier "In der Hölle" après deux bons kilomètres. Malgré l'absence de balisage et d'asphalte, j'ai choisi ce tronçon car l'arrière-pays de la Haute Moselle le permettait. Au refuge, suivre la route en descente avec deux virages et rester à droite au carrefour. Bientôt, vous rencontrerez les balises de la Via Caliga, un sentier thématique régional traitant du passé romain local. Au carrefour, quittez Via Caliga et suivez les panneaux pour Rehlingen à droite. Vous pouvez vous arrêter dans le village viticole de Rehlingen et vous préparer à la montée raide jusqu'à la chapelle, d'où vous pourrez contempler le vignoble luxembourgeois. Avec les panneaux indicateurs du Moselsteig, vous abordez maintenant la dernière partie du chemin, qui vous emmène sur les hauteurs de Kölliger et un rocher massif dans la forêt au-dessus des vignobles jusqu'à l'ancien Nitteler Kreuzweg. La puissante toile de fond rocheuse est depuis longtemps passée au premier plan, ce qui vous montre que vous êtes sur la bonne voie pour revenir à votre point de départ Nittel.
