Romania. Timisu de Jos. Seven Stairs Canyon. Bear Ravine
On the Brasov road towards Sinaia, a few kilometers after leaving Brasov on the same general road, there is a detour to the left that will take us to the town of Timisi de Jos, from where the canyon route, called the Seven Ladders
In our case we made the return by a different path than normal, to make it somewhat more attractive, yes, it is somewhat harder. But you can always do the canyon and then come back the classic route.
We will cross the town until we reach a barrier with an information panel in a parking area. We see the signage that we are going to follow until there, a square with a yellow vertical line, on a white background.
The route begins on a wide dirt track, next to the Sipoaia riverbed that comes from Piatra Mare. After a few meters we come to a crossroads, we must take the path to the right. The path is not lost, we will pass through trails, forests, multi-activity parks, etc.
It is a canyon that has the name of the seven stairs, because they are the ones that we will climb along its route. And it also tells us that the third is the highest, 15 meters.
At the end of the canyon we have the walkways and stairs that go up close to a waterfall. Here we will find a wooden cabin where they charge you an entrance fee. If we follow the paint marks on the trees, they will lead us back to the log cabin in a circular motion. Once at the house we will return to the car along the same path we left.
We go up the stairs attached to the rocks and the water rushes next to us is precious. Spatially when we get to the famous third staircase.
Finished the stretch and the stairs, the circular route, we did it by another different path. This is the path of the Barranco del Oso. The name alone says it all. It is marked by a blue triangle symbol.
We begin to climb a small slope to gain altitude through deep forest. All you see are giant fir trees surrounding you, streams in your path and moss. Not even the sun's rays pass through, with rocks that would be a good cave for bears.
We cross a path that goes towards Piatra Mare, we continue. We leave this wonderful path and at a crossroads we connect with a much busier one. It is the Drumul Familiar Path that we will take to the left. It is marked with the square symbol with a red vertical line.
We began to lose little by little height. The forest ends, and we enter some large meadows that will leave us on the path we climbed. In a short time we arrived at where we started our walk.
