Bucegi Nature Park is a protected area in Romania, in the administrative territory of Braşov, Dâmboviţa and Prahova counties. It is located in the south-central part of the Carpathians. It has an area of 32,663 ha and was declared a protected area in 2000 . It presents a mountainous area, caves, canyons, mountain ranges, sinkholes, valleys, waterfalls, pastures and forests), which protects a great variety of flora and fauna.

Moderate day hike near Bran Castle, looping around the village of Moieciu de Sus and into the Bucegi Mountains.

Moieciu de Sus is a tourist town located on the Rucar-Bran pass, at the foot of the Bucegi mountains, surrounded by hills and mountains of great natural beauty. It is located just 10 km from Bran Castle and 40 km from the city of Brasov.

This trail will take us to Refugiul Saua Strunga. On your way, you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the Piatra Craiului Mountains and the highest ridges and peaks of the Bucegi Mountains.

Comfortable walking shoes and 3 layers of clothing are a must, as it can get cold at 1900 meters. You will need at least 1.5 liters of water, food for the day and don't forget sun protection.

The first and last kilometers of the trail are discreetly marked with the red figure of a hiker on a white background, so take a good look at the map and follow the GPS track if necessary. The rest of the trail is well marked, with a red stripe and then a red cross.

We leave the car park at the end of the Valea Banagalesa road, near a wooden bridge and continue up the Moieciu de Sus - Saua Strunga tourist dirt road. The path is not very well marked but must be clearly visible. It climbs quite steeply at first and then smooths out.

The path has no loss and takes us directly to the Saua Strunga Refuge. The refuge is a small cabin located at an altitude of 1909 m. It has been recently renovated and can be used as a shelter in bad weather or to spend the night

From the refuge we will ascend to the ridge, passing through the Strungile Mari at 2080 m, skirting the Coltii Tapului at 2168 m and arriving at the Suau Tapului refuge at 20125 m.

After the refuge we will pass near the Batrana of 2181 and we will arrive at the Suau Batrana refuge.
After the necessary time to make the panoramic views and rest, we return to the path along the tourist path that descends.

We will pass through the ruins of the Cabana Gutanu cabin. Opposite you will have great views over the ramparts of Strungile Mari.

The path descends relentlessly and takes us to the starting point in a short time.
