Itinerary description
Surrounded by the thriving city of Toronto this river valley and forest have a different feel. The trails are well marked, with noticeable elevation changes and plenty of wildlife (birds, squirrels, chipmunks and some Canada geese showed up on my hike). While it is a very large tract (for an urban location) it is difficult to escape the cities influence (traffic noise, hydro towers, plus others). A decent sized river, a mature managed tract and an interesting blend of city and forest.
Parking is available at the start of the trail (just off Kingston Rd) and some porta-potties were also set up. Trail can be easily shortened to meet your needs or for the avid hiker look at combining Rouge Park - North (separate Wikiloc entry).
