Itinerary description
We were staying at the lovely L'Oiseau Bleu chambre d'hote in Roubia and wanted a gentle walk. There are cafes in Roubia and Argens Minervois, but we did this walk on a Monday and all the cafes were closed. However there was a kiosk selling drinks at one of the locks on the Canal du Midi, so bear this in mind when choosing when to go.
We started at L'Oiseau Bleu, and walked 100 metres to the Canal du Midi, where we turned right on the tow path towards Argens Minervois. This is easy to follow, as you can't go wrong, and the path is very well maintained. As I said, there is a lock on the way and a kiosk selling drinks.
At Argens Minervois you turn left to get onto the road bridge then right to cross the bridge into the village. Have a look at the village then take Rue de la Tuilerie to the Lac des Aiguilles nature reserve. Walk clockwise around the lake then take a track and path towards some poly tunnels. When you reach the road turn right and head back into Roubia on the Chemin des Matelles.
The whole walk is mainly off road, with a little bit on roads where we hardly saw a car. Not much climbing so a very easy walk.
