The authorities recommend starting the walk from Avarua, as the walk from the opposite side, as we did, is much more complicated. Please bear this in mind before starting the route.

It is not an easy route. There are several points along the way where you have to climb over rocks, usually aided by ropes along the way. Strongly discouraged if it is raining or if it has rained recently, as there are many points where it can be very slippery.
Take plenty of water with you, as there is no water source along the way.
It is really worth it. Rainforest that crosses a small stream several times. It is curious to see, at the highest point, almost 500mn high, a lot of rocks that are corals.
