Itinerary description
We took the trail clockwise. The trail begins following a wide gravel road. Do not take a right at the arrowed sign for Ross Lake. Continue a short distance further to the gated start of the actual trail. The easy to follow trail climbs steadily through a thick forest, up to the lake. The picturesque lake, with its multi-hued blue color, sits in front of a rising peak and pine forest. The lake is a great spot for a snack before continuing the loop, which eventually meets up with the Ohara access road and back to the car park.
We had the trail and lake to ourselves, which was a nice break from the crowds of Banff and Lake Louise.
