Tour of the Roski Slap site , in the upper reaches of the Krka National Park .
After the morning visit to the waterfalls and lower lakes complex of Estradinski del Parque from Lozovak, at the table we approach the car a few kms NE, to the upper course of the lakes, and discover the backwater of Roski Slap.
During the drive we will make two stops along the way.
The first, not far away on the D33 road past the town of Konjevrate, at a Yugoslav Civil War memorial. Memorial centered on the first Croatian tank 4004 killed in the Bosnian invasion bound for the Adriatic. Here, where the battle of Bakovo Selo was resolved, the restored tank reminds us of the desolation brought on by these fratricidal attacks in the 1990s.
The second stop at the viewpoint of the Cikola River Canyon , after crossing the ravine along the road, a small parking lot on the right allows us to access a small path. A short route over the canyons of the Cikola river canyon that leaves us in two viewpoints over the ravine.
In addition to the views, the path brings us closer to the access point of a spectacular zip line that descends in three spectacular lengths, an activity that we can contract with active tourism companies in the area.
After the self-tour on Croatian roads we reached the Roski Slap access, shortly before crossing the small bridge to the other side of the valley, we left the car in a parking lot on our left. A few meters further on we find the access and Information Point of Roski Slap .
We continue along the path that enters the canyon on the eastern flank of the group of lagoons that forms the pass between the two great lakes. Our objective now will be the Pecina Ozidana Cave , with remains of the first human settlement in the area.
Access will be a spectacular staircase and wooden walkways that cling to the walls of the pit that encases Roski Slap. There is the possibility of accessing more comfortably from a viewpoint at the top.
Once the upper catwalk is won, just at the entrance to the cave, we get the best panoramic views of the place of Roski Slap and its canyon. Remember that to access the cave we need the access ticket to the Krka National Park, its entrance being controlled by Park personnel.
It is a short walk through the small and well-equipped cavern, with little to see, but well worth it after climbing the access staircase. In addition we will be able to guess inside one or another bat.
We return to the mainland after descending the stairs, once again walking along the edge of the lake. We advance again upstream along the signposted route towards the jetty that allows us to take the upper lake.
A few meters before, the walkway bridge that makes us change our margin starts on our right.
During the crossing of the bridge we enjoy the wide panoramic view of the canyon and the peaceful waters of Roski Slap. From the opposite shore we can guess the enclave and the staircase traveled in the Ozidana Cave.
Again, a pleasant walk along the riverside path now leads us downstream until it joins the access road. We take it to the left back to the starting point.
We walk past the parking lot and now turn to the mills and the lower lake jetty.
We will walk through the facilities of the mills, finding bar services where we can cool off in a break. From the jetty we will enjoy the vast panoramic view of the lake, in the distance we will have the lower Roski Slap waterfall.
From here we will only have to return to the starting point to end the day.
See you at the mountains.
