Itinerary description

The walk starts at Roskeeragh near Drumcliff in Co. Sligo. From the N15 road at Drumcliff take the L3305 road sign posted for Carney, At Carney take left and pass Lissadell house. Continue on this road until Roskeeragh. The walk goes along the beach up to the Promotory Fort. From this point there is a good view of Ardboline island and Nephin mountain in Co. Mayo can be seen. When we were there the sea was calmed and were able to spot some dolphins swimming along the bay. From the Promontory Fort we went back on the same route and walked around Knocklane towards Yellow Strand beach. This is a beautiful long sandy beach that will bring you to an area called Raghly. Continue the walk to Raghly Pier. From the pier we go back on the same track until we get back the start point in where the car was parked. We walk towards Ballyconnell. This is an very interesting area where the rocks are wedged and lots of fosiles can be spotted on the rocks. There are good views of Slieve League cliffs on a clear day. From this rocky area we return to the car on a tarmac lane.
