Itinerary description

The start of this walk is from a large parking space along Scherpenzeelseweg, Leersum; away from the N226 road and the usually crowded parking space which is frequented by mountainbike enthusiasts as the MTB track starts from there.

On the way you come across many different landscapes: forests, heathland, sanddrifts, undulating woods, the outskirts of Leersum with its nice villas, the Nellesteijn tomb and viewing tower as well as the Owlstower monument. Towards the end you come across some of the holiday homes hidden in the woods surrounding the Molecaten Ginkelduin holiday village.

The Nellesteijn viewing tower offers a good view on the Langbroek estate as well as splendid views on the surrounding countryside for miles around, but is only open for visitors on Sunday afternoons.

All in all a rewarding walk, to be repeated another time.

Een mooie wandeling met heel veel paddenstoelen! Alleen zijn boven op de berg de paden veranderd en is het even improviseren. Maar wel genoten

Thanks @bstoel for your comment! Due to the whirlwind / downburst that devastated parts of Leersum and the neighboring woods in June 2021, many (foot)paths were closed down or altered. Bit by bit, paths are being opened up again. Good to hear that you did find your way back to the track and enjoyed it ;)
