Itinerary description
Reachable by public transport. Board bus number 12 (towards Brè paese) from Lugano Centro. You can either end your bus trip at Ronchée or Brè, depending on how long and how many kilometres you want to cover.
If you want to begin hiking at Ronchée, you will find a well paved path through the woods close to the bus stop. Follow the trail and you will reach Brè in about 30-45 minutes time. Once you reach Brè, the trail goes along the streets of the village, which can get confusing. So don’t hesitate to ask for help as you will most likely see the village residents going on about their chores. Or easiest option, follow this Wikiloc trail.
The trail is well paved and maintained with plenty of sign boards. So it’s not a difficult trail, however the ascent might become a bit steep when nearing the summit. The descent is fairly easy, although it might be slightly steep for anyone with knee issues.
General note - Always be aware of the weather changes, the trail might get slippery after rain or snow. Also, owning a pair of hiking poles will be a god send, easy on your knees and reduces the strain on your legs a whole lot.
Once you finish hiking, you can board the bus 12 from Brè to Lugano Centro.
