Itinerary description
This is a very beautiful walk indeed,
we parked our car on the D9a at a Relais Vert, with ample parking space, From here we took the Gr 107, Le sentier Cathare, towards Roquefixade.
the first part is on the small road leading to Coulzonne and for a great part you will have a great view on MontSegur and its neighbouring hills.
Once past Coulzonne the small road becomes a beautiful track with wonderful views into the valley and far beyond.
Once past Roquefixade there is a track lkeading straight up towards the castle, but we walked on to make a turn much further on in order to have a good view of the Chateau from further away.
After 250 metres on this track we took an, at the beginning, almost invisible track that will lead you along the comb of the hill, giving you more than splendid views.
Then we descended towards the castle and after that went up again to Roc de Lauzade and Roc Marot. This is a beautiful part of the walk.
From then on the track descends into the cool woods on the shadow side of the hill..
At a signposted juncion we took the track to the Grotte de 'l'egise catholique .
The last part, to Coulzonne leads you through an almost pastoral landscape.
