Itinerary description

People are attarcted to the big finger of stone that is Pinnacle Mountain and often forget that there are other great trails in the park. The Rocky Valley Trail is a 2.5 mile larriat (counting the spur to the quary overlook) with great views of the river and the park's signature summit without the crowds. In the spring dogwoods and redbud trees put on a wonderful display.

A short flight of steps leads up to this observation deck above the visitor's center with spectacular views of the river and the mountain as well as plenty of opourtunity to obsevre hawks, turkey vultures, and the occasional eagle in flight on the termals.
