Itinerary description
Your hike begins through shady forest, an aspen grove, and later onto granite trail, clearly marked with rocks. It has carved rock stairs for the climb and small switchbacks. Best on a day that isn't too hot. Its a pretty easy hike except for distance. No technical sections and the lake is a great picnic area. Another bright highlight is that your return is all downhill! For backpacking get a permit from a forestry office like Pacific Ranger Station at Fresh Pond on Highway 50. See more at http://peachyhiker.blogspot.com/2012/07/rockbound-trail-to-maude-lake.html
