ROUTE CARRIED OUT IN NOVEMBER
Today we planned to go on an excursion of about 12 km. to reach the so-called "Robert Track Point", the closest point to the tongue of the Franz Josef Glacier that can currently be reached, since due to the continuous retreat of the glacier due to the increase in temperature, each year the tongue of the glacier retreats one bit.
The route includes several hanging bridges, but because our friend Emma doesn't like them at all, when we had to cross a very long one, which according to the GPS we later saw is just over 100 meters, she decided not to continue and wait for us. We would do the route and come back, which we estimated we could do in about 3 hours.
But after that bridge, the road became quite complicated, crossing some small stream without a bridge, and with quite slippery sections, and we saw that it would take us much longer than the expected 3 hours.
Taking into account that given the current situation of the head of the glacier, very remote, and that currently that point, Robert Point, is already very far from it, we decided to go back and then head with the car to another point, in where we would also have a good view of the glacier, or at least, the best that can currently be enjoyed.
