Itinerary description
Beautiful and unusual trail from the heights of King Talal Dam to the valley. Stunning vistas and the unusual pleasure of walking by a real river, not a wadi. The first part of the descent is sometimes steep and requires good physical condition.
In theory, it is possible to walk all the way down to Deir Alla. At the time of writing, however (end of March 2019), the overflow of King Talal Dam after the major rainfalls in the Kingdom had seriously damaged the road / track that follows the river downstream. Where the GPS trail stops, the river has almost washed away the road. It was assessed too dangerous to cross by foot because of the strength of the current and a murky water. A 4x4 can still do it but the other roadbridges further down are badly damaged and look as if they could collapse at any moment. Exercise caution and do ask locals for an update on the road repairs.
