Itinerary description
Start in Jalhay, free parking next to city hall.
Hike to Lac de la Gileppe, follow a part of the "Tour du lac".
Hike to the Soor river and follow it upstream as far as allowed.
Hike to the Helle (Hill) river and follow upstream again. When it has become no more than a tiny stream, take a left to Botrange.
At this point I desperately wanted a camping place with streaming water and found a poor one near a stream I do not know the name of. I suggest finding a camping spot before Botrange, there are a few nice ones next to the Helle. That way you don't need to hike 40 km on the first day as well.
Hike towards the Rû de Herbofaye and follow it downstream. You will cross the Rû de Polleur (one of the waypoints). Both will join along the route (behind a field, you can't see it) and become the Hoëgne.
When passing Royompré, return to starting point at Jalhay.
There are some muddy parts. The Total gas station 500m West of city hall should be open on Sundays.

Guys, can you please give an advice about camping in general and in the specific route? I used to go in wild hiking in Ukraine, Turkey but I've never done it here. Is it allowed to set up tent and what are the rules (official and alternatives:)
I'm looking for trail to try how does it work here:).
In Belgium, just as in most of Western Europe, it is illegal to wild camp. So, hide well :)
Thank you. That is what I knew. Can I contact you somehow to get some tips?)
Can't think of any tips, it's an easy walk. You can always ask questions here.
the question is when and how it's possible to plan overnight when hiking in Europe. From one side it's possible to get 60km from early morning till the late evening. From another side, I do like to have a night within nature. I do understand and follow all rules where I am. In the track above I didn't find any info about special places for camping. So, that's why I'm asking people who also like hiking and does it in Europe.
Alternatively, If once decide to try Ukrainian Carpathian I'd be happy to give you advice, recommendations, tracks I did or any:)
I have no experience using legal camping spaces. I would search on Google maps for "Camping" and inform ahead if they are open, and space is available.
so, people do it hidden and illegal way, right? are there circumstances, when I can set a tent for a night? Or how to do it and not to be fined/punished? :).
I can't say if others do it. I have never seen someone else doing it. But not being seen is the whole point of course.
Thx)
