Itinerary description
26 04 2019
We start the route in the shade of the Eucalyptus trees near to the airstrip of the Forest Firefighters and follow the track alongside the runway, and continue on this track until we reach the river.
We then take the higher of the routes as far as we can and have to drop down onto the track alongside the river.
It's then past the bee hives and into another Eucalyptus wood until we reach the ford across the river, where we stop awhile for a break.
Our return route back passes rustic dwellings and arable lands with Orange and Lemon groves. You will be greeted by the occasional dog.
You will be able to see Torrecilla in the background. There is a beautiful scent of blossom in the air. Then we follow the river side of the runway and through the shade of more Eucalyptus, until we reach the end of the runway and the parked cars.
Directions to the meeting place
From Marbella:
Take the A355 and pass Ojén, Monda and Coín and drive on right till the end.
After two roundabouts turn left onto the A357 following the signs to Campillos.
After 300m there is a BP garage. IMMEDIATELY after the BP garage turn right at "Acceso a Ribera De Rio Grande".
After 100m park between the trees after a yellow building on the right.
From Coín/Alhaurín:
Take the A355 towards Malaga until the signs for Campillos.
After two roundabouts turn left onto the A357 in the direction of Campillos.
After 300m there is a BP garage. IMMEDIATELY after the BP garage turn right at "Acceso a Ribera De Rio Grande".
After 100m park between the trees after a yellow building on the right.

A great summer walk as there is a good amount of shade. I walked this after heavy rain and the Rio Grande had plenty of water in it which had attracted a plethora of aquatic birds.
