Itinerary description
Just before Nerja Caves carpark turn left up dirt road drive for 7k and park at Pinarillo picnic area. From there hike along the GR249 north, instead of dropping down to Rio Chillar on the GR249 carry on north along broad dirt road which narrows and eventually zig zags down to the lavada (water Channel).
Turn right walk along channel to the weir drop down to the river, the fun starts here. Just keep going north boulder hopping for approx 3hrs, climbing waterfalls, one of which has a rope attached to help you through a narrow canyon. After another hour or so you reach your destination, the furthest point hikable up the river bed of Rio Chillar an impressive 40 metre waterfall. Enjoy a noisy lunch and retrace your steps, only this time walk along the water channel from the wier ignoring your path you came down on, and after 20 mins the RG249 crosses the channel. Turn left uphill and return to the picnic area.
