We decided to do the ascent to Rinjani through one of the many agencies there for a matter of time and material, we had planned to do many other things in Indonesia and we couldn't go carrying stores, kitchen... during the whole trip. But it CAN be done perfectly on your own (even if they tell you not to). You simply pay the fees at the park entrance and that's it, and by the way, it's cheaper to hire it directly there than online. There are many companies willing to upload you and so much competition makes prices very competitive.
We decided to do the route contrary to the usual one for a simple reason: Doing it as some agencies propose, the descent difference on the last day is 3,000 meters, of which 1,000 are in terrain with a lot of loose stone. It is much more tiring to retain the descent on this terrain than to push up, so we decided to make the journey in 3 days and 2 nights from Sajang to Senaru.
On the other hand, point out the zero "mountain level" that is seen on the trek. Many "tourists" are deceived by the agencies, who sell them the ascent as something very easy. You meet people who I suppose have never been to the mountains in their lives.
There are plenty of agencies that organize the climb, which basically means that you get transportation to the trailhead, a local guide who speaks English, and porters to carry food and tents. In this way, you can hire the tour from anywhere in Bali or Lombok.
the porters. Each one carried about 30 kilos on his back using 2 baskets joined by a bamboo stick.
Finally, note the enormous amount of garbage that there is. Undoubtedly a pending issue for the managers of the Park.
We started walking in Sajang. At the beginning, climbing little slope through the slopes of the volcano through some meadows. We are finding enclaves equipped to stop to eat, with roofs to protect from the sun and/or rain. (In my opinion, the stops to eat are very long. They give you two dishes and dessert. I think that a shorter snack does not break the rhythm and it does not make sense to go to the mountain with all kinds of luxuries, but as we could see, this ascent is prepared for tourists, not for mountaineers).
Little by little we leave the meadows and begin a very steep climb. Traction is very bad because the ground is loose (I don't want to imagine this section going down, in fact I see "hikers" trying to go down here in the opposite direction to ours making a notable overexertion. In this way we take the ridge where the Camp is located 1, a beautiful place from where we can see the lake and the summit of Rinjani, a pity that it is so dirty.
We got up at 3:30 and together with a regiment of people we climbed to the summit. It's not too fatiguing because the weight is minimal, it's cool... It's about 1000 meters but they go up well and come down better. Back at camp 1, we pack up everything and begin the descent to the lake. This section does not have any complications, at some point there are carved steps... (in short, a normal descent). We arrived at the lake and found a full-fledged landfill. Not only did it harm the view, even the smell was unpleasant, and it's a shame because the place was beautiful. Here we go to take a hot bath (less than an hour between round trip and bath), we eat and start the climb to Camp 2. It is a section with a steep slope, but unlike yesterday, here the ground is firm and the Delicate steps are protected.
The third day is all downhill. Although at first it goes down very badly due to the unstable ground, it is only about 200 meters of unevenness. Then the surface improves and once in the jungle you descend very quickly.
We reach the end of the trek where a vehicle is waiting to take us to the agency where we pay...diplomita...
I don't think this route can be classified as "Difficult" because all the administration is carried by porters, the meals are made by cooks, the camps are set up and dismantled... It is true that it has about 3000 meters of unevenness, but a large part of the work of climbing a three-day summit are helping you.
The route described here, as well as the GPS tracks, are indicative. It is the responsibility of the person who carries it out to take the appropriate security measures for the itinerary, which will depend on both the weather conditions and the technical and physical preparation of the person carrying it out. It is very clear that everything indicated (track and comments) is for informational purposes and without any other type of encouragement, exempting the author from any responsibility for any mishap that may be suffered by whoever carries out the activity by their own free will or induced.

Cuanta agua me aconsejas llevar? Y supongo q es posible hacerlo en dos dias si vas a buen ritmo...
Gracias de antemano... me vendria de lujo tu respuesta... un Saludo :)
