The route starts from the Riliski refuge at an altitude of about 2100m, which can be reached by cable car or on foot (about 500m altitude and 2 hours time). The area is known as seven Rila lakes and the approach is easy. This particular route passes by the 7 lakes but also deviates from the classic route followed by most visitors.
We follow a southern direction in relation to the shelter on a well-marked path. In 1.5 km at the intersection, we will continue to the left (east) while in the same direction and lower we see the lake Dolnoto ezero (the Lower lake). In a short time we will see the second lake called Ribnoto ezero (Fish lake). We will walk SW around the perimeter of the lake and at the point where there is a spring the path crosses. We continue SW and south climbing towards the col while on our right we see the impressive and steep peak of Haramiata which we climb. From the top we have an amazing view of the lakes.
Descending from the summit, the course continues almost to the ridge south, west and northwest for 1.5 km. In this section there are some signs but no clear path. Then we will again enter a clear path and soon we will pass the lake Salzata ezero (the Tear). The trail gently descends NW towards Lake Okoto ezero (the Eye). The direction changes to the east and the trail descends passing Babreka ezero (The Kidney), Bliznaka ezero (The Twins) and Trilistnika ezero (The Trefoil) lakes. Continuing north we will meet the ascent path and at this point the circle closes. The last kilometer of the return is common with the ascent path.
