Itinerary description
This is a stunning peak but an incredibly touristy one depending on your route. Having a late start we did it by the tourist route and got the funecular from Vitznau to Rigi Kaltblad over half way up the mountain. Pricey at 53SF or roughly £40 but fun nevertheless.
From here it is literally tarmacadam roads with only some footpaths. However the views are simply stunning and walking amongst Swiss chalets and talking to other tourists makes for a welcome break.
It was a sedate 7.5kms in 2hr 26min with 362m of ascent. Rather slow but one has to take advantage of the many beer stops on the way up on a hot day. For Brits think Snowdon but with buildings, small roads and busier. I will however come back to do another route from The Valley bottom as the views are sublime :-)
