Itinerary description
Weekend hike from Rifugigo Viviere to Lago Superiore di Roburent. The hike starts at the end of the road at 1818 m altitude. We started Friday evening and found a nice place to set the tent in a valley just off the path. Provide sufficient water. Just below the first bivac (Bivacco Valmaggia) you find a fresh water supply for the animals. The water comes from up above so we tapped it to fill our bottles. The path from Bivacco Valmaggia to Bivacco Enrico Mario goes over a lot of rock debris.The map shows a source when the path goes west but the source was almost dry. At 10 minutes from the bivac there is a cross road. We took the south eastern branch, sometimes over patches of snow, bringing us to Colle della Scaletta and then to the Lago di Roburent where we camped for a second time. We used lake water to drink after we boiled it. That afternoon Belgium beat England for the third place of the world cup in Russia but we should have been in the final against Croatia. The next morning, we waited for the rain to pass to go back over Passo dell'Escallon to reach the car.
