Itinerary description
After a challenging day 2 of our 4 Day Adventure our next adventure on day 3 takes us into Chefchaouen.
After a great nights sleep in the Hotel m9adm located in the Talassemtane National Park and some exquisite Moroccan cuisine.
We sampled the stunning views from the roof terrace of the surrounding mountains before heading off into the hills for our next adventure.
This part of our adventure took us again into the beautiful Talassemtane National Park on our way to the Blue City of Chefchaouen.
As we travelled across the stunning landscape we observe several herds of goats being tended by the goat herders and their dogs.
When Chefchaouen came into view it was a spectacular sea of blue. Also in the foreground was the imposing Bouzafer Mosque where we stopped for a traditional mint tea.
We arrived at our destination for the night - Hotel Ziryab complete with swimming pool albeit the water was a bit cold.
A great location and only 5 mins from the centre of town and our next adventure.
Talassemtane National Park is a national park in the Rif region of Northern Morocco. The 589.5-square-kilometre park was created in October 2004 to conserve the last of Morocco's threatened fir forests. Talassemtane is part of the Transcontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean.
The park's proximity to the popular tourist destination, Chefchaouen makes it a common hiking destination. The park's elevation ranges from 350 meters to 1,050 meters.
It is a very original territory characterized by unique biodiversity and landscapes.
Popular hiking destinations include the Bridge of God, a natural bridge formation, and the villages of El Kalaá and Akchour.
Chefchaouen, or Chaouen, is a city in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco. It’s known for the striking, blue-washed buildings of its old town. Leather and weaving workshops line its steep cobbled lanes. In the shady main square of Place Outa el Hammam is the red-walled Kasbah, a 15th-century fortress and dungeon, and Chefchouen Ethnographic Museum. The octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque rises nearby.
We’ll my fellow adventures that’s day 3 completed and tomorrow is the exploration of the Blue City of Chefchouen.
