Itinerary description

The view from The Ridgeway is across the rolling country side, and The Ridgeway itself is a easy track in this section. The walk continues through Farnborough and then back to to the The Ridgeway.

Most of this walk is easy to navigate, the right of ways etc. being well signposted. About the only is a "J8 584" where the track is less well used.

There is an interesting monument on the route, and the church at Farnborough is nice. Also a tumulus near "J6-584". The route also follows one of the right of ways that goes through the middle of a crop of what looked like wheat.

There are two car parks, one each side of the road, near where I started. One of the areas has shade cover and is the best to use. I also marked other car parking areas that I came across on the walk.

There is a slight dog leg at the road. The path continues across a field, the 'green' track clearly visible when I was there.

There is a path heading approx SW at this point, that meets the path that I followed just W of J586. However, when I was in the area around J586 I was unable to locate the path. The path was clearly visible at this end.

There is a tumulus at this point, then my track turns off The Ridgeway and down a much less used path.

Very nice! Quiet and easy to follow. Some bits were a bit muddy but don't do like me, show up with proper trekking gear and you should be alright. Recommended!

I have done with company and it has been great. Easy to follow with pics for orientation (as when you take off Ridgeway to
Farnborough… my favourite path) and after the church has a nice grass where you can stop for a break and have lunch. In Farnborough there is no shop but people in there where wonderful and nice (we where looking for food and they shared with us and chatted for a while).
    We strongly recommend it.
    Regards
    Javier
