Itinerary description

This unmaintained trail is the main path used to access Richland Falls and/or Twin Devil's Falls. It begins at the west end of the Richland Campground and immediately fords Falling Waters Creek. Depending on water levels this might be easy or hard. During the driest part of summer you might be able to just walk across, but most of the year I highly recommend bringing two sets of clothes and footwear, one for the creek crossing(s) and one for the trail. I use a cheap, lightweight pair of pool shoes and swim trunks. If the water-level on the bridge just outside the campground is over 3 feet, you should plan on dealing with a swift-water swim.

Once across Falling Water Creek the trail turns uphill just a little and then runs along the right side of Richland Creek. At one point the trail pinches down to a narrow shelf along the face of a bluff 15' above the water and at others it winds among riparian jungle.

Once above the confluence with Big Devil's Creek at 1.7 miles you can continue upstream another .25 miles to the 100' wide Richland Falls (as shown on the trail track) and/or cross over Richland (again with the wet clothes) and follow the trail on the river-right side of Big Devil's .25 miles to the Twin Falls. Both options require some scrambling and the trail often gets washed out so you may be picking your own path.

I've rated the trail Difficult due to the creek crossings, other than that it is only moderate. If the creek level is low it is much easier and there is usually some water coming over all three falls even when the creek bed appears dry at the campground.
