Itinerary description
This walk follows the Rhymney river through Cardiff, from the Cardiff Gate Retail Park, down a green corridor between modern housing to wilder meadows and trees on the flood plain of the river. After crossing the river and passing sports fields, the route climbs up the valley side and through the suburb of Rhymney passed the ancient church and down across the main railway line to Parc Tredelerch, with its lake and wild plants. Crossing the road you reach the tidal estuary with mud, boats, seagulls, Shetland ponies and old bricks rounded by the sea.
