Itinerary description
This is the same walk done by greglong99. I would like to thank him showing it to us.
Please allow me add additional information regarding the flora of this walk.
Two types of Australian native trees attracted my attention:
• The Old Man Banksia
• The Grass Tree
The Old Man Banksia is grows commonly on the eastern coast of Australia from Melbourne to Brisbane. Trees typically grow to 15m and trunks may have a diameter of 75 cm. Leaves are long, elliptical and jiggered. The fruits are distinctly Australian (grey cylindrical cones), this is why I like these trees so much.
Also the Grass Tree was of interest to me because the aborigines used the crown stem to make spears. Grass trees are a very slow growing tree, they grow about 1m in 30 years and and grow up to 7m.
Pictures of my favourite trees for this walk are attached.
