A little walk through the capital of Slovenia. Ljubljana is located in the center of the country, in a flat area irrigated by the Ljublianica River, at an altitude of 298 m above sea level. The river is navigable in small boats in the section that runs through the center of the capital.
Ljubljana has been the capital of Slovenia since its independence from the former Yugoslavia in 1991. Its central historic area has some modernist buildings and a defensive castle on top of a hill. It is the seat of government of the nation. Among its main buildings and constructions are the Church of the Annunciation, the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas and the triple bridge that crosses the Ljublianica.
