Itinerary description
One of the most famous hikes in Sierra Calderona - the ascent to the Rebalsadors peak as well as the Viewpoint. The route is quite different from the one proposed by town hall, with some interesting trails and shortcuts.
The route starts from the town hall parking lot and after you pass by the Excavator, there will be a changeto get some water from a spring. Right after that you'll leave the town of Serra and get on a trail. There will be various forks, but keep to the right hand side and continue going up until you reach the road again. Once here, turn left, walk past the abandoned disco and soon you'll be back on a trail. Shortcut is possible here, but you can also follow the gravel road. Soon you'll reach GR-10 trail (red and white marks) which we'll follow for a bit, with a short and easy scramble (there's even a rope). After crossing a road, continue along the GR-10, but very soon you'll have to leave it and take a left. From here the main part of the ascent starts, you just need to keep going up, as Rebalsadors is right in front of you. The peak offers some nice views (especially from the concrete construction) of Sierra Espadán in the background as well as Penyagolosa behind it, visible on clear days. Here we'll take a gravel road and follow it for quite a while, till we get the viewpoint. From here on you'll start descending along a single track trail. There will also be a chance to follow Barranco de Deula towards the end of the descent, with a spring at the end (or take a gravel road back to Serra). A short stroll through the suburbs and we're back in Serra and our starting point - the town hall.
