Itinerary description

Located at 1400 W. RCA Park Drive Find RCA Community Park (formerly Thomson Park)48 acres.Hours: Park is open from 5 a.m. - 11 p.m. daily.

Baseball/Softball Fields: Two softball/baseball fields. Reservations are free. To reserve the fields, contact the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation office at 349-3700 or e-mail parks@bloomington.in.gov.

Trails: Early History Trail (0.7 mi.) begins near the tennis courts and proceeds south into a wooded area. The trail extends around the maintained section of the community park, detailing the natural and cultural history of the area.

Thomson Woods Trail (0.74 mi.) Two intersecting loops make up this wooded trail. The trail starts from the Early History Trail and wanders through the forest and a clearing. The trail contains a few interpretive signs and ends at the Thomson Park Shelter.

Basketball Goals: two courts (lighted)

Parking Areas: Approximately 50 to 75 parking spaces within the park

Play Fields: Open green space

Shelters: The RCA Community Park Small Shelter and Large Shelter are both reservable. For reservation information or to check availability, contact the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation office at 349-3700 or e-mail parks@bloomington.in.gov.

Tennis Courts: Four lighted courts

HISTORY
Donated to the Bloomington Community Park and Recreation Foundation by Thomson Consumer Electronics in October of 1991. Renamed RCA Community Park in December 2009.

DIRECTIONS
From College Mall: Take Third Street west to Rogers Street, turn left (south) on Rogers. Continue south to Rockport Road, turn right (west). Turn right again at Countryside Drive, and then another right onto Thomson Park Drive, which ends in the park.
