Itinerary description

Rakaposhi Base Camp trek is one of the most famous treks in Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan because it is easy and can be done in one day.
The trek starts from the beautiful village Minapin which is in Nagar district.
You can start from Islamabad (Capital of Pakistan). You will have two options to reach Gilgit, one is to fly by air and then hire a car to go to Minapin, the second option is to go by road. And here are further two options by road, one is to go through KKH which is the only option between mid September and Mid July, and the other option is to go through Manserah-Naran Jalkhad- Chilas Road, which is shorter, cooler and only accessible when Babusar Pass is open.
Then from Gilgit you have to go to Minapin Valley which takes almost an hour and a half from Gilgit. A beautiful valley with beautiful views. There are a lot of hotels to accommodate you. you can go there with your families also. It's a beautiful and calm village to stay in.
We reached minapin around 6 pm. And stayed there for a night. We had to start our trek the very next morning. So we gathered all our necessary items like food and porters. As we wanted to spend 2 nights in basecamp. We hired a porter for our 50KG weight. And he charged me 10,000 rupees for this whole trek.
We wanted to start our trek at 6 am next morning and stay one night in Hapakun and one night in Basecamp.
Hapakus is a proper camping site with very basic facilities available. There are three private campsites there, owned by Ashiq, Haider and Wahid. All of them are very nice people. They host you very well. Each of them have a kitchen, toilet and pre-installed tents for accommodation.
We Started from Minapin at 11 Am due to heavy rainfall. The trek was easy for me. But it is moderate for most of the people because of fitness level and trekking experience. My total moving time was 2 hours 10 minutes but it took more than 4 hours to reach Hapakun because I had to stop and wait for my group frequently. It is a continuous hike and you gain an elevation of almost 1000 meters up till Hapakun. We reached there at 3 pm.
Hapakun is a beautiful place, lush green, wild and soothing. With a mesmerizing view of Minapin Valley and KKH down the mountain.
We installed our camp and made some french fries and Pakoras. It was a wonderful evening. And then we made Biryani. Another night with continuous rain.
We had to start our trek to Basecamp at 10 am the next morning, almost 4 hours late due to rain.
It is also a steep hike and you gain further elevation of 500 meters up till Basecamp. It took one hour and 10 minutes for me to reach there. There is also a campsite there with pre-installed tents, kitchen and toilet. This is not a private campsite, it is run by the community. We Reached there by 1 o'clock. Rested there for an hour, had tea and took pictures.
Then we started our trek directly back to Minapin which took almost 4 hours. It was a continuous decline in elevation and was further easy.
So we did it in almost two days. And it was a wonderful experience and the weather was awesome.
