Itinerary description
Highly recommend hike!
Recommend starting at about 7 (or later); locals have spotted bears in the early morning lately.
I have noticed some hikers suggesting sheepdogs may be aggressive. On the contrary, they were very friendly to us. If you are scared, throw food at them, not rocks. Then wait for the shepherds to emerge.
The markers on the way are relatively easy to find. We got slightly off track a few times, but it was easy to see roughly where the trail was heading.
Recommend doing the short and steep route up; it is the easiest and most obvious to find. You’re basically just following the gully/river all the way up to the saddle- which is the border to Macedonia.
Final tip; take the road at the start out of Radomirë. The track keeps crossing the river several times. You need to jump on the rocks or take your shoes off.
