R88 - Via Alpina (itinerario rojo) - Capanna d'Efra » Sonogno
Directly below the Capanna d’Efra hut lies the little Efra lake. The trail will then pass several other little mountain lakes, each more beautiful than the one before. The alpine huts of Corte di Fondo are situated at 1,600m with their typical Tessin roofs of stone slabs. At the biggest building, you can observe a pediment with a central pillar, which is typical of the Efra valley. Before reaching Frasco, the trail passes some old ovens on the right-hand side, in which limestone used to be burned. From Frasco, it reaches the Sonnogno cantonal road. Here, it is possible to view items from the rural past in the Verzaschese museum. A visit to the “Casa della Lana” house is also worthwhile. You may be able to watch wool being coloured using natural dyes. Another old baking oven is still in operation in the village and a shop there sells locally crafted products.
