Itinerary description
Beautiful walk west of Scharnstein, starting from and ending at the entrance of camping Schatzlmühle in Viechtwang. From the church in Viechtwang the path goes up to the Hacklberg, from where you will have impressive views of the mountains to the south. Carry on towards St. Konrad and subsequently Scharnstein via the typical Austrian countryside, to eventually return to the camping. There is some tarmac involved, but as there is hardly any traffic, this is not at all an issue. You may also be able to find some alternatives with a bit of imagination. The walk is moderately difficult (63p, 19,49km, 483m(+), 488m(-) & 6,3%/20%(+) according to IBP), mainly as a result of distance rather than elevation gain. Anyone in half reasonable physical shape should be able to complete this walk.
